Read the reference before searching

To find a Quran verse from a reference such as 2:255, use the first number for the surah, or chapter, and the second for the ayah, or verse. Confirm both numbers on the page you open rather than relying on a familiar English phrase.

For example, Quran.com’s 2:255 link opens the passage labelled Al-Baqarah and 2:255. Its page also displays other navigation labels, including page and juz. Those labels are different locators; they are not substitutes for the chapter-and-verse reference.

Make the lookup reproducible

Begin with a complete reference from the person, class or publication you are following. If someone sends only a screenshot, ask for the chapter and verse numbers and the source of the displayed translation. That small clarification makes later checking much easier.

  • Open the reader’s direct chapter-and-verse link, or use its search and navigation.
  • Match the chapter name and both reference numbers.
  • Check which translation is selected before comparing English wording.
  • Save the direct link together with the reference and the translator’s name.

Keep the different reading layers clear

Quran.com describes translations, tafsir and audio recitations as separate features. Decide whether your immediate task is locating the Arabic passage, following a translation, listening or consulting commentary. A saved link is more useful when your note makes that purpose clear.

If two English versions look different, first record the selected translations and make sure they refer to the same ayah. A wording difference alone is not a basis for declaring one quotation false. For interpretation, take the reference and your question to a qualified teacher instead of treating a search result as a ruling.

Keep a simple reading note

A useful note has four fields: reference, direct source link, selected translation, and the question you want to revisit. You can add the surrounding passage you read without copying a long excerpt.

This is a navigation guide, not a translation, tafsir or recitation lesson. AL-Naqawa links to the original reader rather than reproducing its text or claiming to review its religious explanations.
