Travelling to a new city? Check these prayer time settings

A practical checklist for your destination’s location, local date, time zone and calculation method before you rely on a saved prayer timetable.

Before departure, name the destination clearly

Search for the city where you will be staying and check the country. Some names refer to more than one place. Confirm that the result is the intended destination before saving or printing anything.

If your journey has several stops, make a small list of the places and dates you will actually need. A single timetable for the entire journey can be misleading when the location or local date changes. AL-Naqawa’s city pages describe a fixed place; they do not track a moving aircraft or calculate your route in real time.

Read the destination’s local date

A time zone is more than the current difference from your home clock. Its rules may include daylight saving and historical changes. Use the destination’s named zone for each date rather than manually applying an old offset to a full month.

Around an overnight journey, the date on your device and the date at the destination may differ. A saved screenshot will not correct itself when you cross a boundary or when a clock changes. Keep the city, month and year visible on any offline reference.

  • Check the city and country.
  • Confirm the local date for your stay.
  • Read the displayed time zone.
  • Review the method, Asr rule and any saved minute adjustments.
  • Ask the mosque you plan to attend about its own congregation schedule.

Review settings and direction separately

Your browser may retain a method chosen for a previous location. A city’s default is a starting point to inspect, not an assurance that every community nearby follows it. Ask a trusted local source which timetable and convention it uses if you are unsure.

Qibla is another check. The website gives a bearing from true north for the selected city; it does not sense how your device is facing. Use that reference appropriately rather than assuming an on-screen arrow is a calibrated live compass.

Keep a useful backup and know its limits

Before relying on a printout, confirm its date range and settings. Keep the relevant mosque’s official information separately if you intend to join a congregation. Reopen a current timetable when connectivity is available and replace references that no longer match your location.

This checklist concerns the website’s settings. Questions about combining or shortening prayers, transport, illness or other personal circumstances need appropriate religious guidance. The App and offline app features are still being planned; the current website does not promise an offline travel service.
