A room’s location is more than its terminal number

When planning prayer during an airport journey, check the terminal, floor and side of security before relying on a prayer-room listing. A room elsewhere in the airport may not fit your actual arrival, departure or transfer route. Start with the airport’s own facilities directory and map.

Keep the boarding time and walking route in view as well as the prayer timetable. A saved location can be useful, but confirm it again on the day because rooms, access routes and temporary arrangements can change.

The following examples were checked against the airports’ official pages on 27 October 2026. They illustrate the details to look for rather than provide a complete worldwide directory.

Check ablution facilities and shared use

Heathrow describes its rooms as multi-faith spaces and asks users to respect other people’s needs. Its separate facilities list identifies ablution provision at particular locations, including the two Terminal 4 examples above. Do not assume every quiet room has the same facilities.

Changi’s page says its prayer rooms are in transit areas and are not accessible to the landside public. It also describes ablution facilities and separate areas or rooms for men and women. Confirm the room you can actually reach on your journey rather than treating a general airport listing as a personal access guarantee.

Make a five-point travel note

Before you leave, record the details you will need even if your connection is busy or your phone is offline:

  • Your actual terminal and the room’s floor or nearby landmark.
  • Whether the room is before security, after security or in a transit area.
  • The route from the room to your gate, with time allowed for walking.
  • Any ablution, access or shared-use information relevant to you.
  • The local city, date and time zone used for your prayer timetable.
